Sri Krishna Janmashtami, also known simply as Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu.

Hindus celebrate this festival by fasting, singing, praying together, preparing and sharing special foods, visiting Krishna/ Vishnu temples. Dressing up babies / young children as Krishna or Gopikas on Janmashtami festival is a popular Hindu tradition across the world.

Being so fond of my Indian culture and traditions, I enjoy dressing up and grooming my 3 children. My kids feel very much fascinated for being adorned as such 🙂

There are specific food offerings made for each festival.
Lord Krishna was mostly fond of  dairy products and rice flakes, hence the food offerings are made with dairy as a main ingredient.

Here, I’m sharing with you, only few of the nayivedyam (food offering) I prepared on this auspicious day.
