Last week, I made this, ‘Burnt Green Tomato Dip’ for my kids and their friends, during their play date at my home. I served them as dip for butter toasted bread wedges, carrot sticks, cumin crackers and spicy tortilla chips.
They all really enjoyed the snacks with this dip, as they were watching a favourite movie.
It is such an easy and quick recipe which came together in just 10-15 mins only. And the taste is too good at the same time! 🙂

How to serve, ‘Burnt Green Tomato Relish’:
A relish is generally used a dip, just like in the above pic. I have served this relish as a dip for Carrot sticks Cumin Crackers, Butter Toasted Bread, Spicy crisps.
Next option, is to use it as sandwich spread. It tastes amazingly well. You may use them in any of my sandwich recipes>>> Sandwich recipes collection

Possible Alterations for the recipe, ‘Roasted Green Tomato Relish (Air Fryer, Stove Top)’:
Alternative to Green Tomato: Red Tomatoes (not salad tomatoes), can be used. Better to select the harder ones, not the ripen ones.
Replace Green Chillies: Add 1 tablespoon of Whole Black Peppercorn to the blender. But Burnt Green Chillies gives a different taste.
Alternate to Amchur Powder: Adding 1 tablespoon of Tamarind puree is the best alternative for this.
Other ingredients to add: You might add 1 teaspoon of vinegar, for longer storage of the dip.

Tips:
- Adjust the salt & spice as per your taste.
- In general, Green Tomatoes are not tangy when compared to the ripe red ones. So, I have used amchur powder to give that tangy taste to the dip.
- Air Fryer Method: I did not pre-heat the air fryer. I had never done so for any of my Air Fryer recipes.
- You can air fry for 5 more minutes, if you wish to roast the veggies even more, than in the picture below.
- Storage: As we did not add any water, this relish stays good up to a week when stored in an air tight container in the fridge.
- At room temperature it stays good for 2 days.
Result:
- This, ‘Burnt Green Tomato Relish’, has perfectly caught that unique aroma from the burnt / charred green tomatoes, onions and chillies.
- The spice and tanginess are just right to relish this as a dip.
- My kids & their friends, had this dip for butter toasted bread wedges, carrot sticks, cumin crackers and spicy tortilla chips. They all liked it so much.
