My little son is so very fond of ‘Paneer dishes’. Made this especially for him, during their school term holidays.
He liked the ‘Paneer sandwich grilled in air fryer’, than those made on the stove top grilled pan. He says they are more crunchy when compared to the others. Whatever! I am happy that he enjoyed them well.
Please do try these sandwiches for your kids too. And I am sure they would surely like them. 🙂

Possible Alterations for the recipe, ‘Grilled Paneer Sandwich (Air Fryer or Stove Top)’:
Replace Peri Peri Powder: Add some garam masala powder or curry powder or chat masala powder. Or at least add some ground cumin. Any of these would give that required spicy flavour.
Other veggies to add: Grated carrot, grated white cabbage can be added.
Vegan options: I have used Vegan (Eggless) mayonnaise in this recipe. Paneer can be replaced with any other vegan cheese (store bought).
Air Fryer Mode: I have used Instant Vortex Air Fryer where there is a separate GRILL mode. If your air fryer doesn’t have such mode, just use AIR FRY mode.

Ingredients:
- Grated Paneer – 2 cups
- Butter – 2 tablespoons
- Vegan Mayonnaise – 2 tablespoons
- Tomato Ketchup / Tomato Sauce – 2 tablespoons
- Ground Black Pepper – 1 teaspoon
- Yellow Bell Pepper / Capsicum – 1 (small size)
- Green Bell Pepper / Capsicum – 1 (small size)
- Red Bell Pepper / Capsicum – 1 (small size)
- Onions – 2 (small size)
- Peri Peri Masala Powder – 2 tablespoons
- Salt – as per taste
- Cooking Oil – 2 tablespoons
Special Ingredients:
- Peri Peri Masala Powder
- Paneer

Step Wise pics Procedure for ‘Paneer Grilled Sandwich (Stove Top, Air Fryer Methods)’:
Prep Work:
Gather all the ingredients at one place. Slice the bell peppers in circles. Finely chop the onion length wise.

Prepare the Sandwich Spread:
In a small cup, add the mayonnaise, tomato sauce and ground black pepper. Mix all 3. Apply butter on both sides of the bread slices.

Stove Top Grilled Paneer Sandwich:
Put a grill pan on stove top. Brush throughout the pan with cooking oil.
Place the bread slices on the pan. Apply the prepare sandwich spread on both slices.
Put all these over the bread>> bell pepper slices, onion slices, loads of grated paneer, little peri peri masala powder, pinch of salt.

Place another bread slice on each. Grill them under high flame.
After 2 mins, carefully turn the sandwich to the other side.
Grill them until you get the perfect grill marks. Then, remove from the pan. Done!

Air Fryer Grilled Paneer Sandwich:
Brush air fryer mesh with cooking oil. Place 2 bread slices, one beside another.
Apply the prepared sandwich spread on each.
Put all these over the bread>> bell pepper slices, onion slices, loads of grated paneer, little peri peri masala powder, pinch of salt.

Place another bread slice over each. Close the air fryer. Set the MODE to GRILL, temperature to 200C/390F, time to 6 mins.
Then, carefully turn each sandwich to the other side. Again set the air fryer with same settings.

Remove, cut diagonally using pizza cutter & serve. Done!

Tips & Storage:
- Adjust the salt & spice as per your taste.
- You can use any bread of your choice. I have used Whole Wheat seeded bread for this recipe.
- Storage: Wrap the grilled paneer sandwiches in a cling film (or) put in an air tight container.
- Place them either at room temperature (or) in fridge.
- Reheat them for 2 mins either in air fryer (or) on stove top pan.
Result:
- Paneer Grilled Sandwich in Air Fryer or Paneer Sandwich on Stove Top Grill Pan, both tasted stunningly good.
- Generally, paneer is merely tasteless. I must admit that the Peri Peri masala powder, did give that additional flavour and spice.
- My kids were much satisfied with the smoky aroma of the grilled paneer sandwiches.
- These sandwiches can be served for breakfast, kids packed lunch boxes, family picnics and as light dinners.

- 2 tablespoons Vegan Mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons Tomato Ketchup / Tomato Sauce
