Ugadi or Samvatsarādi or the festival of Ugadi is the New Year’s Day for the people of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka states in India.
It is festively observed in these regions on the first day of the Hindu calendar month of Chaitra (in late March or early April of the Gregorian calendar). In simple words it is the beginning of a new Hindu Lunar Calendar.
As per South Indian Cuisine, special festive foods are prepared on the day of Ugadi.
