Andhra Pradesh, is one of the 5 states in the Southern part of Indian Sub-Continent. Its the largest state located alongside the Southern Coastal line.

Rice is the major food crop and staple food of the state. It is known as the ‘Rice bowl of India’. The other main crops of the state are Mangoes, Vegetables and Chillies.

And hence the recipes of Andhra are known for the most spicy of its kind. The main reason behind it is the vast growth of chilli crops across the state.

The Andhra Pradhesh Bhojanam / Platter, is a 3 course full-fledged platter that consists of podi, pappu, koora, pachadi, ooragaya, pulusu, chaaru, annam, appadalu, vadiyalu, vadalu, mithayi and perugu. You might check my Andhra platters here⇒⇒  Vindhu Bhojanam / Festive Lunch

Praveena, The list of your recipes brings memories of home to mind. I’m having tears. Did not have Dappalamu, Majjiga thotakura Pulusu, Punugulu, Podis & so many more for decades. Thank you.

I accidentally found your blog and it is excellent and very refreshing to see all Andhra recipes at one place. But there is one item missing from the list. I do not know from which coastal district you are from, but in Godavari districts, “Panasapottu koora” is very famous in the spring time. Spring is the time you get tender jack fruit and it is cut into fine pieces and made curry using that. If you know how to make it, please post it.
    Thanks

    1. Hi Rom, Firstly thank you so much for such great appreciation about my blog. 🙂 I was born & brought up in Vijayawada, Krishna District. Ya, sure I will definitely include recipes with Jackfruit/Panasa Pottu in the future. I still remember few Jackfruit recipes made by my beloved Amma during my childhood & even recently.
